Moro Reflex

The movement:

The Moro reflex stimulates the adrenal glands to release adrenaline so that the entire body responds to the stimulus. The body opens up spreading arms and legs and closes again, with arms and legs returning to the typical fetus position. In newborns you can see the Moro reflex occur up to the age of two or three months when the baby is 'shocked', eg when he is picked up too quickly. Children and adults who have learned to compensate often do not show limb movements anymore. Every sudden stimulus activates the Moro reflex, such as:
